Your car can be an invaluable resource when it comes to enhancing security in and around your home. That’s right, your car can help fight crime….. Most every vehicle today comes with a keyless remote (FOB) that includes a ‘Panic’ button which may be the ‘cheapest’ home security system on the market!
It’s true….. Ever hit the panic button on your remote when lost in a Mall parking lot? The whole town knows you’re lost! Why not use it to let the town know that someone is attempting to break into your home at 2am in the morning?
When you turn out the lights and go to sleep at night, put your keys on the nightstand next to you or under the spare pillow next to you. Hear an intruder…. Set off your car alarm and leave it on until the intruder flees. The last thing he or she wants is attention drawn to the home they are breaking into. As soon as you are able, dial 911 and alert the authorities as well. Help, whether a concerned neighbor, or the local police, will undoubtedly come in short order.
Run a test from multiple points in your home. It will go off from most everywhere inside your house and will keep honking until your battery runs down or until you push the button again.
Also, remember to carry your keys/FOB while walking to your car in a large or covered parking lot, especially at night. It’s a cheap, but very powerful security tool right in the palm of your hand. Be safe and be secure….. Carry it…… Use it!
