Join Us In Making Ours, a Stronger, More Vibrant Community

Who are the Lions?

We are members of the largest service organization in the world. Lions Clubs International has approximately 1,382,000 members in 44,680 clubs and 738 districts in 186 countries and geographical areas around the world.

Our motto? It’s a simple, but powerful one:

“We Serve”

Lions International Fact Sheet

“I don’t know what your destiny will be, but one thing I do know:
the only ones among you who will be really happy are those who have
sought and found how to serve.”
– Albert Schweitzer

Community Service is not just for adults!

Can you think of a better way for your child to meet new friends, develop people and leadership skills, learn the value of teamwork outside of sports and make a positive impact on their communities, all while having fun?

We can. The Joppatowne Lions Club currently sponsors the Joppa-Magnolia LEO Club and we’re looking to expand the ranks to include those kids 12 years of age and older who live in the Joppatowne area, but attend other schools. This means that many of the students at Magnolia Middle School also have the opportunity to work and grow with older students who wish to experience life beyond their front porch and make the same contributions to their schools, community and beyond.

If your child enjoys group activities, feels a real sense of satisfaction from helping others, many kids do, or simply wants to join a team of other kids with like-minded interests then consider encouraging them to join the Joppa-Magnolia LEOs.

As a LEO, your child can join their friends in helping their schools and community through a variety of gratifying projects and events. Consider such noble projects as leading food and clothing drives to help the less fortunate, developing and promoting recycling programs and collection points to help the environment, coordinating and presenting special interest events covering topics such as anti-bullying, safety and awareness at home and play, and even outdoor activities like organized hikes, field sports and bike trips. LEO Club’s are known to organize 5K runs and walks for special causes like the Color Run or Cancer Awareness. The list goes on and it is limited only by the imagination of the LEOs themselves.

Working with the LEOs as mentors and as the support backbone are members of the Joppatowne Lions Club.
